Associate Professor Jonathon Ng
MBBS BA GradDipClinEpi PhD (Dist) FRANZCO

Associate Professor Jonathon Ng is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with particular interest in cataract and pterygium surgery as well as the medical, laser and surgical management of glaucoma. He treats private patients at the Perth Eye Hospital and both public and private patients at St John of God Midland Hospital and St John of God Geraldton Hospital.

After completing ophthalmology training in Western Australia, Jonathon undertook further training and Fellowships in glaucoma at the Bristol Eye Hospital (UK); and in cataract surgery and general ophthalmology at Melbourne’s Monash Medical Centre.

In 2012 he was awarded a RANZCO-Allergan Scholarship to examine the use of quality registries in Sweden. Jonathon received Achievement Awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2016 and the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2017. He currently serves on committees at Glaucoma Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Glaucoma Society and the RANZCO Scientific Review Committee Review Panel, and was previously a member of the RANZCO Glaucoma Curriculum Standards Review Panel and the RANZCO Clinical Audit Working Group.

Jonathon remains actively engaged in research at the Eye and Vision Epidemiology Research Group and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia’s School of Population Health and Global Health. He is an investigator on research grants totalling over $2 million and author of over 60 peer-reviewed papers with h-index of 21. Jonathon’s research interests include the effect of vision and eye disease on driving performance, cataract surgery outcomes and utilisation of eye care services.
